1. Introduction to TaraFolio Investor

TaraFolio Investor is a powerful investment management tool that utilizes Modern Portfolio Theory algorithms and Monte Carlo simulations to help you achieve your financial objectives with the lowest possible risk.

2. Signing up for TaraFolio Investor

You can sign-up for TaraFolio Investor at Taraglobal.com or at the TaraFolio Investor Page.

After you have selected the Service button, you will be asked to complete a brief registration form and enter your payment method. After you have completed the registration process, you will receive an on-screen confirmation as well as an e-mail confirmation.

3. Completing the Investment Style Analysis Questionnaire

The Investment Style Analysis is a brief, yes/no choice questionnaire designed to analyze your investment style and risk tolerance. The information you provide is necessary in order for TaraFolio to formulate appropriate strategies to meet your objectives.

4. Creating a new portfolio and completing the Portfolio Preferences and Time Horizon Questionnaires

Here, you will give your new portfolio a name and complete a brief multiple-choice questionnaire that will allow us to understand your risk preferences, time horizon and trading sensitivity for this portfolio.

You will then enter the amount of cash you have available to build your portfolio and/or the securities you hold in your current portfolio.

You will then be given a Table containing a summary of the information you provided, including your portfolio's target return and positions.

5. Screening and adding new stocks to your portfolio

If your new portfolio only contains a cash holding and this is not desirable for you, or you wish to add additional stocks, you can screen stocks here. There are four ways to screen stocks: Basic Screen, Fundamental Screen, Technical Screen and Custom Screen.

The Basic Screen allows you to screen stocks based upon general industry and trade exchange information.

The Fundamental Screen allows you to screen stocks based on more specific firm characteristics and financial fundamentals.

The Technical Screen allows you to employ any or all of six different technical operations to screen stocks.

The Custom Selection Screen allows you to select individual stocks to be screened.

After you have performed the desired screening(s) and selection(s), our engine will give you a list of stocks to select.

You can screen for additional candidate stocks and include them in the selected portfolio at any time.

6. Back testing your portfolio

Back testing allows you to analyze the performance of your scenario portfolio(s) relative to a market benchmark for the previous 12 months. This can be very useful when you are deciding whether to adopt a scenario portfolio. (Circle or point at the Back-test button)

The TaraFolio Engine uses sophisticated mathematics, economic theory, real-time market data and user-defined investment objectives to provide recommendations for optimal portfolio performance.

7. Using the TaraFolio Engine to optimize your portfolio

When you launch the TaraFolio Engine, the analysis process for the selected portfolio begins. When the TaraFolio Engine loads, users are shown their investment criteria and strategy. Definitions and general information can be seen in the help section, lower-left of the window (1), by passing the cursor over the item in question.

If you wish to change any settings, you must press the "Stop" button for the engine to function properly (2). You are given the option of allowing the TaraFolio engine to operate in Manual or Automatic Mode (3) (Automatic mode requires the user's computer, internet connection, and trading window to remain active).

If you choose the Automatic mode, the TaraFolio Engine will continually review your portfolio, investment criteria, and real-time quotes in search and execution of optimal trades without any additional input. If you choose the Manual mode, the TaraFolio Engine will need to be periodically monitored to ensure that optimal trade recommendations are executed.

When the TaraFolio Engine recommends a trade, a blue-colored TRADE command will appear in the upper-right window (4). You may then proceed to the Trading Window by selecting "OK" from the pop-up Trade Action Window (5).

Once in the Trade Window (6) you can perform the recommended trade by clicking on the "Execute" button (7). The trade will be executed only when the "Execute " button is dim. You may check the execution of your order by selecting the Present Position tab from the upper-left corner of the TaraFolio Engine window (8), a trade confirmation e-mail will be generated and sent to you.

The TaraFolio Engine provides a trade recommendation only when the proposed trade results in an expected economic benefit (net of commission and fees), in alignment with your investment objectives and strategy.

Occasionally, you may notice that the return for the scenario portfolio exceeds the return on your current portfolio, and yet no trade recommendation is offered. This is a result of your present portfolio having a greater probability of achieving your defined investment objectives and strategies. When this scenario takes place, you will be showed a red-colored HOLD message in the upper-right corner of the message window (9).

You are given the option of overriding the engine's HOLD recommendation and adopting the scenario portfolio regardless of your investment objectives and strategy by selecting the Trade tab in the upper-left corner of the engine's window. However, we suggest you do this with great caution, since it allows you to adopt trades that might violate your investment objectives and economic theory. This option is provided so that users can adopt the scenario portfolio when the expected return on the scenario portfolio is large enough that investor's may opt to disregard their previously defined objectives and strategy (opportunistic trade).

The other tabs that are found in the upper-left corner of the TaraFolio Engine window are Redemption (10) - where you can liquidate all of your stock positions within the portfolio. Present Position (8) - where you can view the stocks currently held, the value of these stocks, the amount of cash, and total portfolio value. Scenario Portfolio (11) - where you can view the stocks and values of the recommended alternative portfolio. When the TaraFolio Engine recommends a trade, it is the scenario portfolio that will be adopted.

Backtest
This is a utility where you can analyze the historical performance of the proposed portfolio in quarterly increments from 3 to 12 months. In this way, you can analyze the relative performance of the proposed portfolio.
